Dr. J. Morgan O’Donoghue of O’Donoghue Dermatology has just been elected President of the largest state organization of dermatologic surgeons in the nation.

SARASOTA, Florida (October 6, 2015) – In a ceremony held this past Saturday, October 3rd, during the 34th Annual Meeting of the Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgeon

s (FSDS) at the Boca Raton Resort and Club, Dr. J. Morgan O’Donoghue was installed as President of the FSDS.

The news of the FSDS presidency comes on the heels of another exciting announcement; Dr. O’Donoghue will be heading the Dermatology Department of the new Sarasota Memorial Hospital (SMH) Internal Medicine Residency Program. This is the first program for newly-graduated doctors in Sarasota and it is the final step in Sarasota Memorial’s transformation into a nationally-recognized teaching hospital.

National Surveys show that physicians are more likely to establish themselves where they completed their residency than where they attended medical school. “With an increasing population and a retiring workforce, Florida is facing a serious physician shortage. We need residency programs like this one to help keep young doctors from leaving the area” said Dr. O’Donoghue

“I am honored to have been selected by my peers to preside over an organization that raises the bar for dermatologic surgeons and I am really looking forward to helping shape the next generation of doctors as Chief of the Dermatology Department of the new SMH residency program” he continued.
